Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to go and visit my family in Northern Ireland for the very 1st time in my life. It was a dream trip come true! My mother was born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She served in the British Army and met my father, an American Sergent in the marines during WWII.
After they met, of course they fell in love, got married, and then my mother came over on a ship by herself traveling to America to make a new life and raise a family. I am so proud of my mother. With no family of her own here and to start a new beginning took alot of courage. Her strength and outgoing spirit made a huge influence in my life. Her love for the little people and the leprechauns will always live on in my heart.
I have never been on an airplane before in my life! I thought of my mother that day I left for my new adventure! I traveled by myself, took 2 different planes – and I made it! It was definitely a very emotional trip for me; one I will always treasure! I know in my heart, my mother was looking down from heaven smiling.
Please enjoy some of the photos I have posted – I will add more in the near future!
Breathtaking!
Patty, I love these pix! I went to Ireland nearly 3 years ago (Clare, Galway, and Dublin) and I treasure the memories of my time there. I plan to return ASAP.
Patty, I would give a heap o’ shamrocks to go to Ireland. I love your pix. Most of my writing in The Dawn of Ireland series is around Derry, some in Inishowen and the north coast of Donegal (Tory Island, Mt. Errigal). Post some more pics (maybe with a few captions telling us where you took them) so I can get inspired all over again! Will visit with you here and on CelticRose.

Fabulous pictures, Patty! Thanks for sharing.
Patty I have discovered a lot of my Irish ancestors in Galway Ireland and hope to go some day. I’m sure there are some family still there. I love your photos and look forward to seeing more.
I hope you get to visit one day, Cathy. The country is gorgeous! Thanks for commenting – we look forward to having you stop back again.
